Acute Aerobic Exercise

Get up and get moving!

Frequent movement benefits work and behavior in school, understanding of difficult concepts, retention of learned information, and lifelong health and well-being. Movement is one of the most beneficial ways for students to engage with and retain the information they are learning in school.

At UMS, students, faculty, and staff participate in frequent movement breaks, with 15 minutes of acute aerobic exercise before every academic block.  Faculty and staff are trained to include physical activity in lesson plans that will occur outside of these movement breaks to enhance traditional classroom learning environments.
